Circulation Assistant

Description
Due to a recent staff transition, the Town of Billerica seeks qualified applicants for a part-time (24.5 hours per week) Circulation Assistant position at the Billerica Public Library. The Circulation Assistant provides excellent customer service to all patrons, both in person and over the phone. The duties of this position consist of a variety of circulation tasks, including checking books in and out, registering new patrons, collection maintenance and curbside assistance. Duties will also include materials processing and readers advisory.
Must be able to work well with library patrons and display a positive and professional attitude. Performs other related library duties as required.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalency is required, but a college degree is strongly preferred. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be detail-oriented, work well with the public and library staff, and be able to solve problems and work independently. Previous library experience is strongly preferred.
Salary: Starting at $468.24 per week, followed by 9 steps with an excellent benefits package, including participation in the retirement system. This is an AFSCME Council 93, Local 1365 position.
Schedule: 24.5-hour work week. Tuesdays 9am-5pm, Wednesdays 9am-1:30pm, Thursdays 4pm-9pm and alternating Friday and Saturdays 9am-5pm. One Sunday per month from 1pm-5pm is also required.
