Van Driver (part-time; LRTA)
The Billerica Council on Aging (BCOA) is seeking a driver who is not only skilled in driving but loves working with seniors.
Job Summary:
The Council on Aging of Billerica is a regional leader in the design and delivery of a range of programs to meet the needs of some 2,000 active members seeking to remain in the community for as long as possible, aging positively. Transportation and mobility services are critical to their overall well-being keeping connected to friends and community life.
Reports to: Transportation Coordinator
Responsibilities: Provides door-to-door transportation service to Billerica senior citizens, 60 and over, and disabled residents to the Council on Aging, medical appointments, shopping, etc.
Qualifications: Skills: Competencies
Tenure of 4-6 years driving for some community service or related skills.
Possesses good knowledge of area streets and facilities. Displays courteous demeanor and patience with seniors; ability to maintain confidentiality.
Candidate must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record and pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. Van driver training is provided, and employee must become certified in first aid and CPR. The successful candidate will have the ability to interact positively with elder patrons and town employees as well as help those needing assistance getting on and off the van. Van driving experience and basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance preferred.
Driver will operate a 12 to 14 passenger van.
