How can I find out what the Tax Map and Lot Number are for my property?

The DPW maintains a public tax map viewer. You can also visit the Assessor’s Office in Town Hall to look at the tax maps.

How can I subdivide my land?

The subdivision of land in Billerica is controlled by the Planning Board’s Rules and Regulations Governing the Subdivision of Land.

How can I find out if I can put an apartment in my house?

The addition of an In-Law apartment in a single family residence is regulated in the Zoning By-Laws under Section 5.4 (c).

How can I find out the schedule for Planning Board meetings?

The Planning Board generally meets on the second Monday of the month in televised meetings conducted in Room 210 at Town Hall. We post the agenda our meetings in the Planning Department at Town Hall.  The yearly calendar and the meeting agendas are posted in the Agenda Center on the Town website. Here

How do I find out if I can put a business in my home?

Uses permitted in residential districts can be found in the Table of Use Regulations in Section 5.47 of the Zoning By-Laws. Generally, only home occupations are allowed, which are defined in Section 205 of the Zoning By-Laws.

How can I find out what signs I can have on my property?

Signage regulations can be found in Section 9 of the Zoning By-Laws. Generally, signs that are permitted by right, with certain dimensional limitations, fall under political, identification or directional content.
